Jim Toohey has 20 years of senior management experience in the direct marketing industry. He has an extensive background in accounting, financial planning and control, debt and project management, acquisitions and divestitures, and systems implementations. As Direct Group’s Chief Financial Officer, Toohey is responsible for banking relations, treasury and accounting, insurance and benefits, contract negotiations, acquisitions and business ventures, budgeting and forecasting, and business process development.
While at Direct Group, Toohey has negotiated significant debt recapitalization and capital equipment agreements, developed and implemented financial and operational-metric- management reporting and successfully maintained or lowered costs associated with insurance and other benefits. He also directed the development of numerous database applications to facilitate the operational and financial processes of the company. In addition, he performed a lead role in the acquisition and integration of Enterprise Marketing Solutions, Inc. (EMSi), a database marketing company providing statistical modeling and analytics, data management, hosted database solutions and e-mail programs.
Prior to joining Direct Group, Toohey served as Vice President at Petsky Prunier LLC, investment bankers in New York. He also held the position of Chief Financial Officer at CC3/Transcontinental in Warminster, Pa., and was the Vice President of Finance at ADVO, Inc., in Annapolis, Md.
Toohey holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Maryland in College Park, as well as a Master of Business Administration in Finance & Investments from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He serves as Treasurer of the Philadelphia Direct Marketing Association and is a member of the Association for Corporate Growth.
