Patrick O’Brien has more than 16 years of experience in the direct mail industry, including an extensive background in sales, sales management, marketing and business development. As Chief Marketing Officer, O’Brien is responsible for sales and marketing of products and services offered by Direct Group, as well as the overall branding and positioning of the company in the marketplace.
Under O’Brien’s leadership, Direct Group has experienced double-digit sales growth, with 2008 being a record year for the company. Since he joined Direct Group in 2005, the company has greatly diversified its account base and has expanded its database marketing services offerings, implemented a campaign optimization program and launched a digital marketing solutions platform, all of which have been well received by clients and prospects.
In his first role at the company as Vice President of Sales & Business Development, O’Brien was responsible for overseeing research on target markets, crafting sales and marketing messages, and developing sales strategies. As a direct result of his efforts, several major clients signed on to utilize Direct Group’s services.
In 2007, O’Brien became Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing while maintaining existing client relationships with many of Direct Group’s largest customers, as well as expanding the company’s reach with new product offerings and in new vertical markets.
Before joining Direct Group, O’Brien spent 12 years with Atlantic Envelope Company in various sales positions, becoming Vice President, Business Development in 2002. While at Atlantic, he won numerous company sales awards, including “Top Sales Producer” for four consecutive years.
O’Brien received a Bachelor of Science from Mount Saint Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, Md., and has a Master of Business Administration from The Pennsylvania State University.
